ROERO

Roero is the name of both the wine and the cradle from which it springs: a cluster of hills in 19 municipalities all on the left bank of Tanaro, are devoted to this son of "Nebbiolo" (95%) ennobled by "Arneis" (2-5%) and other varieties. It is said that the Savoys, Charles Albert in particular, were so taken with this delicate, fragrant wine loosely called "nebbiolino" - that they bought a couple of vineyards on these hillsides so as to have grapes with which to make Roero in the royal cellars at Pollenzo.
This fascination has survived unchanged. The bright ruby red of a hint of froth that releases fragrance. The fresh scents that recall the woodland strawberry, raspberries, roses and geraniums.
And the pleasing taste, fully dry and only very slightly bitter.
