ENOTECA DI GRINZANE CAVOUR.Housed in the castle of Count Camillo Benso di Cavour, who was the village mayor, it brings together a range of the highest quality of Piedmontese wines selected by the 'Order of the Knights of the Truffles and Wines of Alba'. A series of rooms with strictly period fumishings and displays can be visited in the castle, where there is also a restaurant with an lustrious history which is a point of reference for the great Alba cuisine. The first Piedmontese public wine centre is located in the impressive castle where the renowned statesman, Cavour once worked when he was a young mayor and the enlightened administrator of the estates inherited from his father. The Centre was officially inaugurated in 1971 and is certainly a leading showcase for the best wines and grappas from the whole of Piedmont. The products on sale are carefully selected by the Master Winetasters of the Order of the Truffle and the Wines of Alba, a body entrusted with the running of the Centre and the promotion and supervision of all its displays and other events. In addition to the Centre and some very attractive views, the Castle offers several other permanent exhibitons: 1 7th and 1 9th-century Alba kitchen settings, very detailed reconstructions of a farrier's and a cooper's workshop, an 18th-century distillery, wineglasses and illustrations of the history of food and wine in the Alba district.
